An employee at an East Texas private community was arrested Tuesday morning.

According to Bud Wilson, President of the Board of Directors at Hideaway Lake, 44-year-old Christopher Eugene Meador was arrested by Smith County Sheriff's deputies for one charge of theft over $1,500 and under $20,000. Meador was employed at the community as a general maintenance supervisor.

Hideaway Lake issued a statement saying that it is unknown if more arrests concerning this matter will be made and that the investigation is still ongoing.

The Smith County Sheriff's Office began investigating an employee of the Hideaway Lake community for possibly taking kickbacks. Authorities began searching the Hideaway Lake administration building on July 29.

The affidavit for the search warrant shows detectives were searching the building for evidence of an employee stealing from the club. It also shows the Hideaway Lake board president, Bud Wilson, and the board's vice president, Jerry Troon, told the Smith County Sheriff's Office about kickbacks being paid to one of the club's employees.
