HOPKINS COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

A former Hopkins County fire chief is facing theft charges.

According to the Hopkins County Judge Chris Brown, the Texas Rangers were called in to investigate discrepancies in the county's fuel bills.

After a warrant was issued for Nix's arrest, he turned himself in to Delta County authorities and immediately posted bond.

Judge Brown says the theft charge is for more than $1,500 but less than $20,000.
