UA coaching staff names Players of the Week after win over Ole Miss

Ten Alabama football players were recognized by the coaching staff for their performances following Saturday's win over No. 21 Ole Miss. Kevin Norwood, Anthony Steen and T.J. Yeldon were named players of the week on offense. HaHa Clinton-Dix and C.J. Mosley represented the defense while Landon Collins, Cade Foster, Dillon Lee, Cody Mandell and DeAndrew White were on the special teams list.

Norwood had five catches for 40 yards and drew a pass interference call. Two of his five receptions resulted in first downs. Steen received the top grade on the offensive line as UA totaled 434 yards, which included 254 yards on the ground. Yeldon carried 17 times for 121 yards with one touchdown and caught three passes for 16 yards. The score came on a 68-yard run early in the third quarter that put the Crimson Tide up 16-0.

Mosley, who was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week, made two big plays in the shutout victory. He recorded a safety in the fourth quarter that put the game out of reach at 18-0 when he tackled Bo Wallace in the endzone. The senior All-American had another key play in the victory when he batted down a pass on fourth down and two at the Alabama seven-yard line. Clinton-Dix tallied eight tackles, including six solo stops. He also broke up a pair of passes as UA held the Rebels to just 205 total yards.

Collins was credited with a tackle on kickoff coverage, forced a fair catch and partially blocked a punt. Lee recorded two tackles on the kickoff team, with one of those coming inside the 20. Lee and Collins both played a rule at downing a punt at the one-yard line prior to the Mosley safety. White had a tackle inside the 20 on punt coverage and forced a fair catch. Foster connected on all three field goal attempts, including a career-long from 53 yards out. He averaged 61.2 yards on five kickoffs which gave Ole Miss an average start at the 23.2. Mandell booted five punts with an average of 46.2 yards per kick. He had two inside the 20 and also got a punt off after a high snap early in the game.
