Homeless teen hit by car while riding bike in Tyler

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - A teenager was taken to a local hospital after he was hit by an SUV while riding a bicycle Monday.

Caleb Steen, 18, was riding a bicycle along S. Beckham Avenue in Tyler around 2 p.m. when he attempted to cross the road near the intersection of Noble Street. A black SUV hit the teen while he was crossing the road and he was thrown from the bicycle.

Steen received minor scrapes and bruises during the incident. Since he was not using a crosswalk, the teen is at fault for the accident. However, the driver of the SUV will not press charges.

The 18-year-old is homeless at this time and had borrowed the bike from a local church who helps transients.
