OneSight offers free vision screenings for students

WALNUT HILLS, OH ( FOX19) -

Over 250 students received state-required vision screenings Wednesday provided by Luxottica volunteers in partnership with the OneSight program.

Kindergarten, first, third and fifth grade students from Frederick Douglass School in Walnut Hills were given vision tests, and those with visual and financial need will receive free glasses at the end of the project.

OneSight's Community Vision Care program sends trained Luxottica volunteers to area schools. Organizers say each year, approximately 30,000 students in Cincinnati Public Schools receive the screening during a five-week period.

Students who need glasses are referred to the OneSight Vision Center at Oyler School or a LensCrafters location for a free exam and eyewear.

One in four children has an undiagnosed vision problem, which according to the CDC, is the number one disabling condition affecting kids.
