OTTAWA COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

An Oak Harbor man has been found after the fleeing the state. He is now facing charges related to child pornography.

Authorities say 48-year-old Gary Myers had thousands of child pornography images in his home on West Portage River South Road. When police searched the house, they reportedly found nearly 50 CDs of evidence.

According to the county prosecutor's office, an investigation into Myers began in January of 2010, after a neighbor says Myers claimed he'd had sex with a female juvenile in Fremont.

Over the summer, another man was arrested for child pornography in Ottawa County after a woman found pictures of naked children inside books she bought at a local auction. Authorities say this is not just a problem in their area, but across the country.

"Prosecution of such predators is becoming more and more strict, so it's not just a regional problem, it's not a local problem, it's a national problem," said Sheriff Steve Levorchick. "It's an issue that needs to be handled on a national level as well as a local level."

Myers is originally from West Monroe, LA. That's where authorities say he fled after being indicted. Myers was extradited back to Ottawa County on Sunday. He faces felony charges for pandering obscenities involving a minor.
