The Davidson County grand jury has indicted a former Metro police officer on a charge of official misconduct.

In May, Gerald McShepard was decommissioned as an officer in the North Precinct amidst a probe by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

Now, the TBI says the 15-year veteran of the police department sent an anonymous letter to the Department of Children's Services saying that a DCS employee was engaged in prostitution and pornography.

That employee was McShepard's ex-girlfriend, the TBI said.

Investigators believe the allegations were unfounded and that McShepard used his resources as an officer to send the letter and photographs, hoping to harm his ex-girlfriend at her work.

McShepard was jailed on $5,000 bond.
