PANOLA COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -
Authorities responded to the report of a possible drowning at Lake Murvaul Sunday morning.
According to Panola County Chief Deputy John Depresca, emergency crews were dispatched to the scene, located near County Road 198, at 10:50 a.m. Upon arrival, officials learned that a man had found his two-year-old son floating face-down in the water.
The man pulled the toddler out of the water, but when crews arrived, the child had only a faint pulse. The little boy was taken to a hospital in Carthage and was then air lifted to LSU Medical Center in Shreveport where he died.
Panola County authorities are working with Caddo Parish officials to get the toddler's remains back to Texas, so that an autopsy can be performed.
The child's identity has not been released at this time.
