UA coaching staff names 7 players of the week

Seven Alabama football players were recognized by the coaching staff for their performances following Saturday's win over Colorado State.

Christion Jones and DeAndrew White were named players of the week on offense. Trey DePriest and C.J. Mosley represented the defense while Landon Collins, Kenyan Drake and Altee Tenpenny were on the special teams list.

Jones had the best receiving game of his career with nine catches for 90 yards. He also returned four punts for 26 yards and two kickoffs for 46 yards. White had two receptions for 65 yards, including a 30-yard touchdown that put Alabama up by three scores at 24-6.

Mosley, who has been a coaching staff player of the week in all three games, once again led the Crimson Tide defense with nine total tackles. The senior was also credited with a tackle for loss and two quarterback hurries. DePriest was tied for second on the team with six tackles and made a big play in the fourth quarter when he forced and recovered a fumble.

Collins recorded a tackle inside the 20 and forced a fair catch on punt coverage. He is also on the punt return team and the kickoff coverage team, where he assisted on a tackle. Drake came through with a blocked punt that was returned for a touchdown by Dillon Lee. The score put the Tide up 14-0 with 12:41 left in the second quarter.

Drake played on three of the special teams units (punt, kickoff and kickoff return). At running back, Drake scored the first touchdown of the game from three yards out.

Tenpenny, who also plays on three of the special teams, was credited with two tackles on kickoff coverage by the coaches, including one inside the 20.
