BATON ROUGE, LA (KSLA) -

Two Louisiana State Penitentiary inmates that broke out of prison early Sunday morning have been caught.

A media spokesman for the prison confirmed to KSLA News 12 the inmates escaped around 8:30 a.m. It took Louisiana State Police and the West Feliciana Sheriff's Office a little more than two hours to capture them, around 11 a.m.

Police surrounded the inmates and captured them in a wooded area by a levee, right outside the secured fencing near their living area.

A Shreveport family tells KSLA News 12 they were at the prison to visit an inmate when the guards announced that all visitors would being turned away while the search is in process.

Prison Warden Burl Cain will hold a press conference for the local media within the next hour.
