TYLER, TX (KLTV) -
For all of you who love the rides, the music, the livestock, and even the food, Friday is your day, as the East Texas State Fair kicks off for the 98th time in Tyler.
And there are brand new attractions coming to the fair this year, in addition to some crowd favorites like the open livestock and horticulture shows.
Sinbad and his high-dive team will perform several times each day, Wade Henry will be riding the world's tallest performing unicycle around the fairgrounds, and the Great American Frontier Show will give everyone a look at the Wild West.
Friday is Senior Day, where anyone 55 and older gets in free before 6 p.m.
There will be 43 food vendors for all your fair favorites, and 40 rides, including two new ones called "Speed" and "Yo-Yo."
It's estimated that about 280,000 people will attend the fair this year.
The gates are open each day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased at the gate. They are $5 for children ages 6 to 12 and $8 for anyone 13 and up. Children under age 5 can attend for free.
