West rusk running back George Anthony shattered the Raiders single game rushing record, with 333 yards against Big Sandy Friday night.
Anthony did on just 20 carries. An average of more than 16 yards every time he touched the ball. Anthony also broke the West Rusk record for touchdowns in a game with five scores.
He's not shy with the football. But he is shy with a microphone.
"Makes me happy I can do stuff like that," said Anthony. A young man with little to say, Anthony didn't even know he had broken the school record for yards until after the game.
"He's a gentle giant and a good kid," said West Rusk head coach John Frazier. "He's few on words but will speak with is actions. To go out on Friday night and do something like that, to set a school record and they've had some great running backs come through this place. It's pretty neat to be a part of and watch."
Frazier said it was the ultimate team accomplishment. Everyone in the locker room was smiling after the game.
Offensive lineman Jace Forshee says his teammates wanted to make Anthony a legend.
"He (Anthony) got his name known," said Forshee. "But we all know what we did to help him get that."
