Red Cross keeping area workers close by in fear of Tropical Storm Jerry

Posted: Updated:
(KLTV) - Workers with the American Red Cross in North Texas have been sent to aid in Colorado flood relief, but deployments from the area have been halted due to fears surrounding a storm that could make its way to the area.

Nineteen North Texas workers have been sent to Colorado after flooding ravaged the state. The American Red Cross announced Wednesday that no additional workers from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area will be sent to outside areas.

A tropical storm is likely to form in the Gulf of Mexico over the next few days, according to the National Hurricane Center. The storm could possibly make a visit to the Texas and Louisiana area. The hurricane center is giving the disturbance an 80-percent chance of developing.

The Red Cross in Dallas/Ft. Worth is an official hurricane evacuation zone for portions of the Texas Gulf Coast.
