Bomb squad called after man forgets duffle bag at BMV

Posted: Updated:
HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) -

Authorities say a man accidentally left his duffle bag at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles in Hamilton, which led to the arrival of a bomb squad and police officers.

It was reported at the BMV on Erie Boulevard (Route 4) on Wednesday afternoon. According to police, a man went to apply for a license but didn't have the correct identification.

As a result, he returned home and accidentally left a duffle bag he was carrying inside the BMV. When he returned with his correct information, multiple emergency responders were there, including a bomb squad, over the forgotten bag.

Someone had reported the bag as "suspicious." It was ultimately determined to be a false alarm and contained nothing hazardous inside.

Authorities say the man never made any threats. Thus, no charges were filed.
