Around 7:30 Tuesday morning, the Rains County Sheriff's Office began investigating an attempted child abduction in Point.
According to police, the incident happened off Highway 69 near County Road 1310. The Rains County Sheriff's Office says a 15-year-old girl told them that two Hispanic males attempted to pull her into their pickup truck through the passenger-side window. The girl told authorities that she was able to run away from the men, one of which she described as wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.
Point Police Chief Serena Booth says the girl described the truck as a "full-size, black newer-model, possibly a GMC or Chevrolet."
"We're definitely continuing on this investigation. It's crucial that we follow every lead that we possibly can," says Chief Booth.
Booth adds that this incident did not happen at a school bus stop.
Rains ISD says that even though the incident did not take place at a bus stop, their drivers have been notified to be alert and on the lookout for the suspect vehicle.
Call the Rains County Sheriff's Department if you have any information on this case. The number is Phone: 903-473-5000 ext 280.
