Bengals overcome Steelers in home opener

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The Cincinnati Bengals overcame the Pittsburgh Steelers for their first win of the 2013 season Monday night.

The Bengals defeated the Steelers 20-10 on Monday Night Football.

First-round pick Tyler Eifert had a 61-yard catch in the first quarter leading to a 7-yard dash by Gio Bernard for a touchdown.

Tied up at 10 at the half, the Bengals rallied in the third. A 78 yard, 8-drive rally was capped by a short lob to Bernard. Accelerating with amazing speed, Bernard ran for a 27-yard touchdown reception putting the Bengals ahead 17-10 in the third quarter.  

Kicker Mike Nugent booted a 25-yard field goal to extend the Bengals lead to 10 with 7:50 left in the fourth quarter. 

Up 20-10 with less than five minutes to play, Reggie Nelson picks off Ben Roethlisberger taking over at the Cincinnati 13. 

Time expired in Steelers possession.

    A man was killed in a one-vehicle wreck in Harrison County. According to a press release, a 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 was traveling eastbound on US-80 when the vehicle went off the south side of the roadway and struck a tree. The driver of the vehicle is identified as Lawrence C. Walls, 49, of Marshall. Walls was pronounced dead at the scene by Judge Mike Smith. His body was transported to Meadowbrook Funeral Home.
