Winona woman sentenced to probation for check forgery

SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

A Winona woman was sentenced Tuesday to 7 years probation for forging someone else's signature on a check. 

Misty Miller, 39, was charged with forgery of a financial instrument of the elderly charge. The Smith County District Attorney's Office says Miller forged the name of a man over the age of 65 on a $590 check.

Miller is required to complete 160 hours of community service and pay more than $1,300 in court fees.
