The meetings will take place Tuesday at Orion Academy from 6-7:30 p.m., which is located on Queen City Avenue. A meeting Thursday will be at Cincinnati City Hall (Room 115) from 4-5:30 p.m. and also from 6-7:30 p.m.
The Western Hills Viaduct is Cincinnati's largest viaduct at 3,500 feet in length. It was originally designed as a double-deck structure for automobiles and streetcars, and the eastern portion of the bridge was replaced in 1961 during I-75 construction.
The viaduct spans the Mill Creek Valley and CSX Railroad Yard and is used by 55,000 vehicles per day. The last major rehab was in 1977.
City officials say the viaduct currently has several issues resulting in a need for reconstruction, including a worsening structural condition, inspection and maintenance difficulties, poor pedestrian and bicycle accessibility and more.
According to the city's website, the Department of Transportation and Engineering, along with the Hamilton County Engineer's Office, contracted URS to perform a preliminary engineering study, which is expected to last two years.
Construction is planned to coincide with the Ohio Department of Transportation's I-75 reconstruction, however neither project has funding for construction or a definitive timeline for completion.
