Good afternoon, news fans. We hope you're having an exceptional day!

Here are some stories for you to peruse today:

1. We have a reporter in Longview at Pine Tree ISD who has told us that Coach Derek Fitzhenry has been conditionally reinstated as football coach. Fitzhenry had been accused of allegedly having had a physical altercation with a student at a football game on August 30. Shaley Sanders will have a complete report for you tonight on East Texas News at 6.

2. "I expect you to do what we've always done and that's cover for each other." This is what the original arrest affidavit states that Glenn Barton is recorded as saying to his victim, just before he asked if he was being recorded. Now we've found out that Mr. Barton, who turned himself in Saturday, bonded out later that day. His bond had been set at $50,000. Story here.

3. On Monday evening, the Henderson County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant in Hidden Hills Harbor. According to Henderson County Sheriff Ray Nutt, while executing the search warrant, a Henderson County Sheriff's Office Investigator was involved in a suspect shooting. The identity has just been released of the man who was killed.

4. Investigators, even scientists, have never seen anything like it. The new synthetic drug called Crazy Clown is now linked to deaths across the country. Inside a small foil packet is a small amount of innocent-looking herbs. "It's kind of a sweet-smelling material because they add some stuff to make it smell sweet; smells like incense almost," forensic scientist Christine Gabig said. It's even sold as incense if you know where to look.

5. The Humane Society of Northeast Texas is completely full; volunteers say they can't take another animal at the moment, and they are in desperate need of animal lovers to come adopt or foster these homeless dogs and cats. Please read about it here and contact them if you can help.

6. Syrian officials stated the country is ready to disclose its chemical weapons stash. According to CNN, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Moallem announced they would reveal locations of the weapons and halt any production. Also, he said representatives from the United Nations, Russia and other states to inspect its facilities.

7. Bowie County Sheriff James Prince says the death of a woman in Hooks, Texas is considered suspicious, in part because of the small fire that was found burning inside the home where the woman's body was discovered on Monday morning.
