INDEPENDENCE, KY (FOX19) -

An embattled former government official is taken to the hospital with self-inflicted stab wounds.

Officers were called to Bob Due's Independence, Kentucky home around 11:20 a.m.

Covington Police tell FOX19 that Bob Due stabbed himself. He was taken by ambulance to UC Medical Center for treatment.

Due, 63, has been accused of misappropriation of city funds, which could be in excess of $300,000, according to City Manager Larry Klein.

Klein announced details of the investigation last month, saying money was allegedly transferred from the City of Covington into Due's bank account dating back to 2010. He said there were multiple incidents of about $8,000-$10,000 per transaction.

On August 29, Due was taken to the hospital after trying to take his life. Due has been charged with theft by unlawful taking of over $10,000, unlawful access to a computer, official misconduct and criminal possession of forged instruments.

Officials say they are not qualified to comment on Due's condition.

Kenton County Commonwealth Attorney Robs Sanders says he will file a motion to revoke Due's bond because he's a threat to himself and others. Sanders tells FOX19 that no charges will be filed in today's incident.
