Tyler ISD is selling an old elementary school property.
During a workshop today, TISD officials discussed the sale of the old Jones Elementary School property.
Right now, the buyer of the property has not been named, but the deal for $465,000 is expected to close on September 26.
Tyler ISD also discussed a new system of accountability to aid teachers by monitoring student progress through a point system.
Schools and different grades are granted points for several categories for each individual school year. Teachers can then focus on specific needs and areas of improvement.
"Our responsive intervention program has progress monitoring built in depending on which tier of intervention the students are needing, we have different progress monitoring tools for reading, math, and it comes out graphically, whether are students are on the up rise, or whether they're flat, or whether they're declining," Dr. Karen Raney, with TISD, said.
Coaches will be on campuses to help train teachers and administrators and aid them with the accountability system.
