Good afternoon, everyone; we hope you're having a successful Monday!

Some stories of interest are ready for you to peruse:

1. In somewhat unusual news, a cross-dresser's borrowed fashion statement ended up getting him busted for robbing an East Texas liquor store. Kilgore Police Detective Roman Roberson shares the details of how Gene Autry Williams, Jr., was busted recently for robbing a liquor store last summer.

2. Multiple departments came together to fight a 25 acre fire in Van Zandt County Monday that threatened one home. The fire started near the Wills Point Industrial Park and consumed land located on two different properties.

3. George Zimmerman has been taken into custody after a domestic incident on Monday. CNN reports a gun was present at the scene, but was not involved in the incident. However, the Associated Press and other media outlets are saying his wife said he threatened her with a gun.

4. Tyler ISD, along with various other districts across the State, is partnering with the Friends of Texas Public Schools (FOTPS) organization to revitalize the image of Texas public schools. Over the next few months, administrators and selected District employees will complete an Ambassador Training Academy sponsored by the FOTPS.

5. Here's a way to be "green" and save money, too! Has your child outgrown his or her Halloween costume but it still looks like new?  The Tyler Public Library is accepting clean, gently used Halloween costumes from Sept. 15 to Oct. 10 for its first Halloween Costume Exchange.  Anyone dropping off a child's costume will receive a ticket that will allow them to shop for a gently used costume on the day of the exchange.

6. An East Texas man was sentenced to 28 years in prison on Monday for the death of a Longview woman. Byron Marcel Houston, 31, of Longview, was arrested in November 2012. He was found guilty of manslaughter after he shot 39-year-old Barbara Hudson in the back during a game of 'Russian Roulette' at her home.

7. A former East Texas lawmaker has announced he will run for the Railroad Commission next year. Wayne Christian said Monday that environmental regulations threaten to kill what he called the Texas miracle and make the state like California.
