An East Texas man was sentenced to 28 years in prison on Monday for the death of a Longview woman.
Byron Marcel Houston, 31, of Longview, was arrested in November 2012. He was found guilty of manslaughter after he shot 39-year-old Barbara Hudson in the back during a game of 'Russian Roulette' at her home on Third Street in Longview.
During the sentencing, Houston gave a statement, apologizing to Hudson's family members. Her family members gave a victim impact statement.
Houston will be eligible for parole after serving half of his sentence. Houston was originally to be sentenced to 20 years, but because he had been previously convicted of a felony, the sentence was enhanced to 28 years.
