For the Canton Eagles, once is not enough. Last year, they stunned people by winning their first playoff game in thirty-nine years. This year, they want to be better.
"Our first game this year," head coach Gary Kinne says, "we were already better than last year."
The team is 4-0, and led by sophomore quarterback G.J. Kinne. Kinne has thrown for 1121 yards, including four receivers with three or more touchdown catches in just four games.
"You can't be selfish," G.J. explains. "You have to spread the ball around."
The elder Kinne came from Mesquite to canton last year, with a simple long-term plan for the Eagles.
"We don't want to a one-year wonder," he says. "We want to become an East Texas powerhouse."
