Gift of Love: Local Foster Children Find Permanent Home

For more than four years now, KLTV 7 has been committed to helping foster children find a permanent home. Our Gift of Love reports have prompted hundreds of you to call, inquiring about fostering or adopting. So far, about 50% of the children we have profiled have found their forever family. In this report, we are proud to say five more East Texas children have found the Gift of Love.

Back in October of last year we brought you the story of an adorable 3 year old named Kathryn. She had been in foster care about a year and a half, removed from her home because of neglect. Kathryn is now on the road to a bright future. A permanent family has been selected for her, giving her the stability she's never had in her young life.

And in September of last year you met a sibling group of three; 5 year old Donshaylese, 4 year old Andrea and two year old Dadraylin. They were removed from their home and split up into different foster homes.

Donshaylese told us, "I miss my sister. If I could stay with my brother and my sister then I'd feel happy."

Donshaylese is now happy after she, along with her brother and sister, have been adopted together. She says, "I really do love them."

And you may remember 15 month old Tommy. You met him in October of 2003. He was removed from his home when he was 5 months old, weighing just 9 pounds. At the time, he couldn't even hold his head up. Now, he can roll over and sit up.

Finally, this sweet little boy has the one thing that will help him continue to make progress, the Gift of Love.
