Boil water advisory issued for Troup

Posted: Updated:

From the City of Troup:

To customers of the City of Troup in the following areas:

TROUP, TX - Bounded on the north by E. Duval Street, on the east by S. Price Street, on the west by S. Front Street and the south by Farm to Market 110 to and including County Road 4801. This is essentially all customers in the southeast quadrant of the city of Troup.

Due to a water main break, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required our water system to notify customers of the need to boil their water prior to consumption.

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking and making ice should be boiled and cooled prior to use. The water should be brought to a vigorous, rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source.

When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, officials will notify you that the water is safe for consumption.

If you have questions, you may contact John Phillips at 903-842-3128.
