Posted: Updated:

Rusk County game wardens have identified the man who drowned on Lake Palestine on Tuesday night.

According to Captain Mike Hanson, the body of Kayvan Moayadi, 30, was recovered by game wardens at around 11:30 p.m. from Lake Palestine near the Sunrise Shores area in Chandler.

Witnesses say Moayadi swam out from shore about 100-150 yards at which point he began to struggle to stay afloat. By the time bystanders entered the lake to try and save him, he had gone under.

Game wardens were notified of the incident around 6:30 on Tuesday evening. Henderson County Sheriff's Office personnel spent the rest of the evening combing the bottom of the lake until they found Moayadi's body.
