TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

On August 28, 1963 one of the most powerful speeches in American history was delivered.

It has been 50 years since Martin Luther King delivered his famous speech, so the Tyler Public Library thought a good way to honor him would be to play his speech. They also set up a display of books about the event and King. Librarians say quite a few Martin Luther King books have been checked out this week.

"They're really glad to enjoy this and they come from that history; that was something that they were alive when this happened. They were also speaking of other people that weren't there fifty years ago to see it live and it's on the big screen and we're going back in time," said Linda Gray, Youth Services Librarian.

They showed the speech in its entirety twice, once at noon and a second time at 4:30 to give children a chance to see it after school.
