Texas Country Hall of Fame will undergo $1.5 million expansion
CARTHAGE, TX (KLTV) -
The city of Carthage has approved a plan to double the size of the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame.
The project will be paid for by the city and cost $1.5 million dollars, allowing for more space for new artists to be displayed in the museum.
Museum leaders said they have simply run out of space and have not been able to induct any new artists into the hall of fame for the last two years.
"It's full and the people that are already in there, you just don't want to take them out," said Texas County Music Hall of Fame Vice President Charles Thomas. "They wouldn't give their memorabilia if they knew it was only a temporary thing. We have so many tourists coming here. It's just a real good thing for Carthage."
Once completed, the museum will also include a new 40-seat theater and a portico for bus tours to unload.
