Man faces up to 10 years in prison after admitting to drug trafficking

A Van Zandt County man has pleaded guilty after he admitted to drug trafficking.

Billie Earl Johnson, 51, of Fruitvale pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and distribution of methamphetamine on Tuesday. Up until December 2010, Johnson conspired with others to acquire and distribute methamphetamine in the Eastern District of Texas.

Johnson admitted to being responsible for assisting in the distribution of more than 50 grams methamphetamine. He also admitted to posessing a firearm during his drug trafficking activities. An indictment on November 7, 2012 charged him and two others with drug trafficking violations.

Johnson faces a minimum of ten years in federal prison at sentencing.
