Body of man recovered from Cross Lake identified

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Shreveport police have identified the man whose body was found in Cross Lake Monday morning, after he reportedly fell from a boat Saturday night.

The man is 46-year-old Robbie H. Weems of Shreveport.

The Shreveport Fire Department says Weems was found floating in the water on the east side of Buzzard Island by Shreveport Police Department Cross Lake Patrol around 7 a.m. Monday.

The Shreveport Fire Department says the man was one of three adult brothers riding on a stalled boat that was being towed back to shore just before 8 p.m. Saturday, when, according to the surviving brothers, one Robbie Weems jumped out.

The boater towing the stalled boat heard screaming, disconnected the tow rope and turned back back to help.

SFD and SPD, with assistance from the Caddo Sheriff's Department, Natchitoches Sheriff's Department and the LA Wildlife and Fisheries assisted in the search.

Weems' body has been sent to the Caddo Coroner's Office for an autopsy, and Shreveport police say they are working with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries to investigate the incident.
