It's a boy! The newest member of the Fort Worth Zoo's elephant herd has arrived.

Bowie, named after the famous Texas Revolution soldier James Bowie, was born August 5 to first time mom Bluebonnet. August 22 was Bowie's first time on exhibit. As he becomes accustomed to his surroundings, he will be viewable at various times throughout the day.

Bowie and his elephant family are usually viewable at the following times: 10:15 a.m. to 12 p.m., and briefly at 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30 p.m.
