LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

The organizers of the Independence Day open carry march in Tyler have planned another march, this time in Longview. This will be a Labor Day open pen carry celebration that kicks off in front of the Gregg County courthouse in downtown Longview. It is scheduled for August 31 at 9:45 a.m.

According to the group's Facebook page, more than 100 people plan to attend the march. Organizers said they want this to be a family event.

The Facebook page states, "Please bring your friends and family and join us in a public exercise of our God given right to self-defense! As always, safety is a first."

One of the organizers of the event, Matt Thiessen, said the group has already communicated their plans with the Longview Police Department.
