KAUFMAN COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

An East Texas constable has been indicted for tampering with a government record with intent to defraud or harm.

According to the indictment, Kaufman County Precinct 2 Constable Joe Don Law was indicted August 20 for knowingly altering a government record relating to the Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System on or about September 16, 2011. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Law allegedly made a false entry into the records stating that he had successfully completed the Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System online certification. The TLETS is a secure network service that enables law enforcement to dispatch and store information on a wide scale.

Constable Law was appointed to his position in June 2004.
