An East Texas man who escaped police custody on Tuesday morning after shoplifting from Walmart was arrested on Tuesday afternoon near Hollytree and Rieck Road by police.

According to the Tyler Police Department, 19-year-old Austin Shipp escaped police custody at Walmart on South Broadway Avenue Tuesday around 11:40 a.m. Officers were leading the teen to a squad car when he managed to escape from police custody.
