H.S. Tour - Brandon Bulldogs

BRANDON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Brandon Bulldogs are coming off an impressive 12-3 season in which they reached the 6A title game. In that game Brandon came up just short of pulling off a win against South Panola.

Now Brandon is back to prove they belong with the big boys in 6A and get back to that championship level.

The Bulldogs will rely on junior QB Gardner Minshew to lead the offense. Minshew is coming off a year in which he threw for 3,001 yards and had 27 TD passes. Two of his top targets return in Austin Jasper and Josh Stowers.

The strength of this team may be the defense and specifically the defensive line. The trio of Fletcher Adams (DT) Michael Brooks (DE) and Kyle Strickland (DE) may be the best front in the state. Their presence will be the key to picking up the slack for the loss of all-state linebacker Taylor Polk.

Brandon opens the season Thursday at Madison Central.

The UT Tyler Patriots are headed to Oklahoma City to compete for back to back national titles. It's an opportunity this team has been working toward all season long.  "Anytime you get to dogpile its a really special moment. Its an overwhelming joy for them that they are going to get to experience this and take it all in," said KK Stevens, senior Patriot catcher. ...More >>
