Family of shooting victim says he had no enemies

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

A deadly weekend shooting has police looking for a suspect as a Lakeside family mourns their loss of 25 year -old Jacoby Taylor who was shot and killed.

"He loved to laugh and talk and joke. Anybody around here will tell you Jacoby doesn't do nothing but laugh and play," said Quentrellious Taylor, Jacoby's first cousin.

He says Jacoby was gunned down Saturday night while standing with a large group of people in the 2900 block of Poland Street.

"I was devastated, I'm still hurting," said Quentrellious.

Police say the shots were fired into a large crowd, and Jacoby was shot in the upper body. The Shreveport Fire Department pronounced him dead at the scene.

"Because that's what we do around here we just mingle around each other you know because everybody around here is relatives," said Quentrellious.

The shooting has many wondering why someone would shoot into a crowd, and if Jacoby was targeted.

"He didn't have no enemies," said Quentrellious.

Police say, according to witnesses someone fired a number of shots from a car that was passing by the crowd. The shooter reportedly got out of the car and ran into the woods. A search of the area Saturday night turned up nothing.

And it's still not known if Jacoby was targeted, or in the wrong place at the wrong time.

"We would like justice. Some answers for the father, because he's very puzzled right now," said Quentrellious.

Police believe 22 year- old Rico Allen, a man they describe as homeless could have the answers the family is looking for, and has named him as their main suspect in this case.
