Cancer Survivor Supports Relay

Out of the hundreds of cancer survivors that came out for this year's Relay For Life event in Smith County, there are literally dozens and dozens of stories of inspiration. One of those is the story of breast cancer survivor Nancy Hendrickson.

Hendrickson was diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2001. After receiving double lumpectomies and radiation treatment, Nancy is proud to say she is cancer-free. As one of the numerous volunteers that helped put the Relay For Life event together, she wants everyone to know the support is critical.

"It has to be dealt with it has to be something that we cope with and the earlier you find it the greater chances you have for survival," she said.

This year will mark Hendrickson's third year cancer-free. She intends to volunteer for the event every year.
