Rare lobster headed to Mystic Aquarium

MYSTIC, CT (WFSB) -

An extremely rare multicolored lobster is headed to Connecticut Friday.

A calico lobster, weighing more than 1.25 pounds, was harvested somewhere off the Atlantic seaboard and is making its way to Mystic Aquarium.

The yellow-and-black spotted lobster, named Katie, came into port Thursday, according to its buyer, Tri-Town Foods of Connecticut.

Marine scientists said a calico lobster is one in a 30 million find.

Officials with Tri-Town Foods have arranged to donate the crustacean to the Mystic Aquarium on Friday. It is unclear when the public will be able to view the lobster.
