TEXARKANA, TX (KSLA) -

A Texarkana, TX woman is behind bars, charged with leaving her 9-month-old baby unattended in a hot car.

Police say they were called to the Oaklawn Village parking lot in the 2800 block of New Boston Road on Monday for a report of a baby being left unattended inside a vehicle.

When they arrived, they say 21-year-old Haleigh Wright rushed out to meet them, and they say that's when they saw the 9-month-old baby girl inside the vehicle in a car seat.

One window in the car was rolled down about 3 inches. Police say they determined that Wright had been shopping inside the business for 15 minutes.

A check of the weather revealed that the outside temperature was 96 degrees at the time of the incident.

Wright was arrested for endangering a child and booked into the Bi-State Justice Center. Her bond was set at $100,000. The child was released to family members.
