From the Palestine Police Department:

PALESTINE, TX - On Wednesday shortly before 9:00pm officers from the Palestine Police Department responded to a call of a Burglary of a Building at Shep's BBQ located at 1013 E. Palestine Ave. Police responded after receiving a report that someone had been seen entering the building through a window.

Police arrived and found that a window on the front of the building had been broken. Cpl. Brian Lintner was the first to respond. Cpl. Lintner made his way to the back of the building and saw a female inside the building near the back door. The female ran back into the building and out the front door. After a short foot chase Cpl. Lintner was able to take the subject into custody.

The subject was identified as April Nicole DeFore, 38, of Palestine. DeFore was taken to the Anderson County Jail where she was processed for the offense of Burglary of a Building. Burglary of a Building is a State Jail Felony which carries a sentence of up to two years in a State Jail Facility.

Police initially responded to the call when a concerned citizen saw someone entering the business through a window. This seemed odd to the person watching as they knew that the business was closed. This is a great example of what can happen when members of the community work with the police.

After talking to the witness, police learned that there may have been a male subject involved in the burglary. The investigation into this incident is still ongoing as police try and identify the male suspect.

Anyone with information concerning this or any other crime is asked to call the Palestine Police Department at 903-729-2254 or CRIME STOPPERS at 903-729-8477.
