Good afternoon friends; we hope your day is going well.

Here are some stories of interest for you to peruse this afternoon:

2. 16 year-old kidnapping victim Hannah Anderson is doing what most teenagers would do after a life-changing ordeal: sharing her story on social media. She shared painful details of her abduction by a family friend. She fielded questions on the site about her abduction by the man she knew as Uncle Jim, James DiMaggio. Read her responses here.

3. Flugtag is nearly here, and there are a group of Letourneau University students who are nearly ready to participate. Some of you may not be familiar with flugtag, which means "flying day" in German. In this case it's the name of the annual Red Bull homemade, human powered flying craft competition we've told you about in years past. This year, a group of East Texas students are getting into the competition with their own flying contraption! We'll tell you more about it tonight on East Texas News at 6.

4.An East Texas homeowner arrived home today to find that some of his belongings had been removed from his home, including a tv and some guns. He looked out the window and saw a man running out of his backyard into the woods carrying a television. You may be surprised at what the suspected thief did next. 5. The University of Texas at Tyler Ingenuity Center has been awarded an $11 million grant to expand afterschool programs administered to improve student performance in middle schools. This five-year grant, awarded by the Texas Education Agency, surpasses the 2011 TEA grant as the largest in university history. Read how this will help your kids in the not-too-distant future here.

6. You're welcome, astronauts and future space colonists: A Portland professor creates a zero gravity coffee cup. Now they can really have their cup of joe on the go! Details and video here.
