Gift of Love: Mechelle

15 year old Mechelle and I are having an afternoon of fun and creativity as we paint a piece of pottery with her initial. Mechelle is a fun and bubbly young lady who has a passion for music.

"I love to sing," Mechelle said.

She is very devoted to her singing career and hopes to make it big with her voice someday.  If that doesn't work out, Mechelle has thought about becoming a lawyer.

"I like to stand up for people. I like to do what's right," Mechelle said.

Mechelle is an outgoing and sociable young lady who has a loving and caring attitude.  She is highly motivated and responsible, but still loves to have fun.  Mechelle loves cheese pizza and for dessert cinnamon rolls. Mechelle also loves chocolate! Who doesn't!

"My favorite book is Where the Red Fern Grows. My favorite movie, I don't have a favorite movie. I like all types of movies," Mechelle said.

The three things she can't live without are her bible, her scrapbook and her lip gloss.  As for her three wishes, Mechelle says she only has one.

"Have my adopted family by the end of the summer, that would be that's the only wish I want. I don't even want three. I just want one," Mechelle said.

Mechelle says finding her forever family is her main focus in life right now.

"It would mean the world to me," Mechelle said.

Mechelle is looking for a family that will support her dreams no matter what.  And most of all she just wants a "mom and dad.", a family to show Mechelle the Gift of Love.

If you'd like to know more about Mechelle or other East Texas children available for adoption call our Gift of Love Hotline, toll-free, 1-888-KIDS-275.

On Monday the Associated Press released its top 25 preseason poll for college football. And for the third straight year, Texas A&M didn't make the cut. Starting fast though and moving their way up the polls in recent seasons hasn't been the problem. In fact, the Aggies, who have over a dozen East Texans on the roster, were number four in the initial playoff rankings last year.
