BUCKEYE, AZ (CBS5) -

A farm worker was shot to death and a co-worker was taken into custody by Buckeye police early Friday morning.

A caller alerted police dispatchers to the shooting just before 5 a.m. and said the gunman was still on the scene at 19601 W. Broadway Rd.

Officers found the suspect, 62-year-old Francisco Macias, of Avondale, and took him into custody. The victim was identified as 48-year-old Herme Escobar of Buckeye.

Escobar had been an employee of the farm for more than one month. Macias was employed there for more than 10 years.

Macias was booked into jail on a charge of second-degree murder.

It's not known whether police have yet discovered a motive for the shooting.
