SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

A speeding motorcyclist died after crashing on the 90th Street off-ramp from the Loop 101 Pima Freeway on Tuesday morning.

The 44-year-old Tempe man struck a median curb and was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene, said Officer Carrick Cook of the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

The motorcycle continued on and struck a pickup truck the westbound lanes of 90th Street, Cook said. The truck's driver was not hurt.

The man's identity was not released. Cook did not say whether the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.

The crash happened about 5 a.m. and the off-ramp reopened about 7:40 a.m.
