The North Richland Hills Police Department is seeking information regarding the December 2007 murder of a woman in her home. Police believe there may be an East Texas connection.
On December 9, 2007, Marianne Wilkinson, 67, was spending a quiet evening with her husband in their home when the doorbell rang. Mrs. Wilkinson answered the door and was fatally shot by an unknown assailant. Police say the couple was home alone, and there is still no known motive for this shooting.
Police now believe that the murder was a tragic case of mistaken identity, and that the person who pulled the trigger was tragically a the wrong door.
The NRH Police Department has continued to receive valuable tips since the murder occurred. The murder weapon was found in 2008, but the shooter has not been discovered.
However, police say that there is information that indicates that individuals in the Palestine, Texas, area may have information which would assist in the investigation. Oak Hills Farms Dairy is renewing their reward of $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest and indictment of those responsible for this heinous crime. In addition, a $1,000 reward is being offered through CrimeStoppers of Tarrant County.
With the help of the community, the NRH Police Department hopes to bring closure and peace to the Wilkinson family.
