According to family, Arthur Foster, 79, of Lufkin, who has been missing since June 1, 2013 was reportedly found dead in his truck on or around August 8.
Lufkin Police Commander, Mike Shurley said he can confirm the Silver Alert, that has been in effect since early June, for Mr. Foster has been canceled.
Shurley says a body was recovered in Tyler County but the identity of that body has not been confirmed yet. The Tyler County Sheriff's Office is investigating and will perform DNA testing to positively ID the body.
Attempts to reach the Tyler County Sheriff's Office for a statement were unsuccessful Sunday.
Foster's son, William Rudenko, told KTRE that he was informed that his father, Foster, was found by some hunters on a deer lease. According to Rudenko, his father had gone off the road and was driving on a deer lease.
Foster's truck somehow got stuck so the 79-year-old had been trying to get it out with a jack. Rudenko says his dad got tired and sat down in his truck, where he apparently died.
Rudenko says some hunters setting out corn for hogs found the truck and called police.
In a previous report, Lufkin Police, public information officer, J. B. Smith said, "Mr. Foster has diabetes, heart problems, and high blood pressure, and his family believes him to be in the early stages of Alzheimer's or Dementia."
