Crews to repair Tyler sinkhole this weekend

Posted: Updated:
TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

The sinkhole that caused hours of traffic delays last month will be permanently repaired over the weekend.

Crews will start working on the sinkhole at the intersection of Front and Broadway will start tonight at 7:00 and is scheduled to be finished by Monday morning.

TxDOT officials say the crews will work 24 hours a day for the next two days. They encourage drivers to take different routes to avoid the intersection.

Though it is an inconvenience, residents in the area say they are relieved that safety will be restored.

"I think, I just think it will be a plus for the city to have repaired, and not have to worry about, you know, it happening again," said Jean Nolen, who lives near the sinkhole.

Again, TxDOT crews will start working on that sinkhole at Broadway and Front Street tonight. They're also asking people to avoid the area to keep traffic down.
