A new hope for Pine Tree football

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

For the first time in several years, things are looking up for Pine Tree football.  The team will play in a brand new stadium for the 2013 season.  The Pirates will also have one of the most talented quarterbacks in the state.

After just three games at quarterback in 2012, Caleb Chumley showed enough to earn eight division one college offers.

"He's been amazing with the attention the college's have given him and just kept it in perspective," said Pine Tree head coach Derek Fitzhenry.

"He's bringing a lot of attention," said Pine Tree receiver Mason Hayes.  "I think the more we produce they're out there watching us to and we're feeding off the attention he's getting."

Chumley hopes to lead an explosive offense in 2013.  Playing quarterback just three games his junior season, Chumley accounted for more than one thousand yards.

"I feel this is the year we'll do something because the way we've been practicing," said Chumley.  "Everyone's fired up about it and we'll be ready."
