Troy's Robinson named to Unitas Award Watch List

Troy senior quarterback Corey Robinson has been named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Watch List, the foundation announced on Wednesday.

The four-year starter and nation's active leader in career passing yards and completions, Robinson is one of 30 senior quarterbacks named to the watch list.  Robinson joins ULM quarterback Kolton Browning as the only Sun Belt quarterbacks selected to the list.

The Paducah, Ky., native enters the 2013 season as Troy's all-time leader in passing yards, completions, attempts and ranks second in passing touchdowns.

Robinson joins senior wide receiver Eric Thomas (Biletnikoff) and senior kicker Will Scott (Groza) as Trojans who have been named to preseason watch lists.

Established in 1987, the Unitas Golden Arm Award is presented at the end of each season to the nation's top college quarterback based on character, citizenship, scholastic achievement, leadership qualities, and athletic accomplishments. Candidates must be a college senior or fourth-year junior on schedule to graduate with their class. The award will be announced on December 6 in Baltimore, Md.

On Wednesday, Troy completed its seventh practice of fall camp with a three-hour session on the turf inside Veterans Memorial Stadium. The Trojans will work through two-a-days on Thursday. Troy's first practice will start at 8:15 a.m. and begin the day's second practice at 7 p.m.

Troy will scrimmage for the first time during preseason camp on Saturday. Following the conclusion of the scrimmage, Troy players will meet with the media for the Trojans' annual media day.

The Trojans open the season on Saturday, August 31, when in-state-rival UAB comes to town.  The game will be broadcasted live by ESPN3 and kicks off at 6 p.m.
